Moment with the Mayor for November 11, 2017
The City of Wadsworth has been working tirelessly all year to complete a website redesign project. We pride ourselves in being user-friendly and business-friendly, and we wanted a website that conveyed that. After an extensive Request For Qualifications, CivicPlus was hired to design a new layout, migrate the content, and host the new website. Assistant Service Director Harry Stark and administrative assistant Danielle Rich, in addition to the IT department led by Steve Lange, devoted many hours to the project. We think you’ll find the new site more informative and easy to navigate, and invite you to check it out at www.wadsworthcity.com. You can also follow the City on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for daily updates.

Candlelight Walk
Main Street Wadsworth will host the 2017 Candlelight Walk on Friday, November 17, 2018, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. This year’s one-night-only event kicks off the holiday season with a Santa parade at 6:00 p.m. Immediately following the parade, the lighting of the Christmas tree and the Salvation Army kettle presentation will take place at the gazebo. Look for the Kris Kringle Mart in the alley between Bicksler’s and the Sub Station, and horse and carriage rides, miniature train rides, and wagon rides will be running all evening beginning at 6:30. Create a forever memory by having your children’s picture taken with Mr. and Mrs. Klaus at the library, and enjoy theater performances at Crossroads Community Church. Ice sculptors and raffle prizes will round out the festivities at the Candlelight Walk. As I have said many times before, this is one of my favorite events of the year! I look forward to seeing many of you there!

Cornwell Expansion
Cornwell Quality Tools, a well-known established company in Wadsworth, came to the City with the need for a new distribution center. Although the building could have been built in a number of locations in and around Northeast Ohio, Cornwell chose to remain in Wadsworth, and a tax abatement offered by the City provided additional incentive for them to build a 100,000 square foot distribution center, for a total capital investment of 5.4 million dollars. As a result, 95 jobs were retained in the community. This new building, completed at the beginning of October, stands proudly in one of the industrial areas of Wadsworth and is already providing distribution services to clients all over North America. Congratulations, Cornwell!

Until next week…..
Mayor Robin Laubaugh
