Broad Street Water Line Project

Broad Street Water Line

UPDATE: Both the north and south main water lines have been successfully replaced. Water line connections to businesses and homes are being made. During the week of May 8th, the intersection of Broad and Lyman was closed because a concrete vault and valve was placed underneath the intersection. The vault will improve water flow to the southern part of the city. The intersection has since reopened. The repaving of Broad Street will take place after the Blue Tip Parade.

The City of Wadsworth is replacing water lines on both the north and south sides of Broad Street, between North Lyman and Summit Street. The contractor started work on February 26th and estimates the project will be completed at the end of May.

Dominion Energy will also be in the same area replacing gas lines through April. Gas line work will extend past the water line work area, in all directions.

Please review the map above- the affected water line areas are highlighted in red. Streets off of Broad may also be affected as their water line connections are being made. Side streets may also be used as staging areas for equipment and trucks.

Residents should expect travel delays and lane closures throughout the project, with possible full closures. The area will be closed to commercial trucks and a detour will be provided.

Broad Street Letter to Residents

College Street Culvert

Recently, heavy rains caused the ground at the edge of the roadway to break loose and slope failure in the area of Holmesbrook Creek; resulting in damage to the culvert under the roadway. Our engineering staff discovered the issue and quickly began emergency repair work in order to stabilize the area.

Only one lane will be open, but by alternating the traffic in each direction with temporary signals, two-way traffic has been re-established. This one-lane alternating traffic fix will remain in place for the foreseeable future. We are currently working to expedite the process for a permanent culvert replacement. When work begins to replace the culvert, another full closure is expected.

City Branding Project

The City of Wadsworth will reveal the new logos, taglines, and way-finding signage for the City and the Downtown during the City Council Meeting on February 20th at 7:30pm. This exciting event is open to the public and can be watched on WCTV or played back on my.viebit.com.

The City would like to thank Main Street Wadsworth, Poggemeyer Design Group, our Steering Committee members, and every person who filled out the branding surveys last year! We believe that the end result is a true representation of Wadsworth and will be enjoyed by all for many years to come! This goal could not have been accomplished without everyone's contribution. The passion that people have for our city is inspiring and we are grateful!
