Moment with the Mayor for January 11, 2019
Congratulations to Patrolman Vivian Feke for being selected as the 2018 Wadsworth Police Department Patrol Officer of the Year! This award is determined by a vote of the department’s police officers and dispatchers. Patrolman Feke was hired by WPD in January 2017 after she left her career as a news producer/multimedia journalist with WKYC Channel 3 - Cleveland. She attended the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy where she obtained her Ohio Basic Peace Officer Certification in June 2017. Since joining the Department, Patrolman Feke has continually demonstrated a stellar attitude towards her job and is always seeking ways to learn, and to expand her knowledge and skills. She leads by example by assisting her fellow officers and by routinely volunteering for tasks and assignments before being asked. Patrolman Feke takes great pride in her work and she has an enthusiastic, positive attitude each day. She maintained a high level of self-initiated activity in the past year, which led to her being among the top officers in the department in arrests, OVI’s, traffic stops, citations, and case incidents. She received an award from the Medina County Safe Communities Coalition in September and was selected as the WPD ‘Officer of the Month’ in March and September for her performance. Patrolman Feke has exhibited great motivation during the relatively short period of time she has been with us. She is one of the administrators for the department’s Facebook page and has participated in several community service events such as Safety Forces Camp, National Night Out, Cops and Kids, the Medina County Police Athletic League, and has made various presentations to Wadsworth community groups.
Main Street
Main Street Wadsworth kicked off the 2019 First Friday schedule of events last week with the theme “Winter Bites” that featured a live reindeer on Gazebo Island! More fun is planned for the first Friday of each month this year, with Mardi Gras, First Responders, Superheroes, and of course, the iconic Scare on the Square, Candlelight Walk and much more! These events are free and family-friendly, and a great way to spend a weekend evening close to home. Rain or shine, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., on the first Friday of every month. I look forward to seeing you there!
Until next week…….
