Moment with the Mayor for December 8, 2018
WCTV Clapper Award Winner Matt Hiscock
Congratulations Matt Hiscock, Director of Public Safety, for receiving the WCTV Clapper Award for Best Public Awareness program for Residential Speed Awareness! The residential speed awareness program is a three-phase program developed to help address speeding concerns throughout the city. Implemented based upon citizen compliant or known hazardous speeding concern areas, the program uses a unique partnership approach between city administration, citizen participation, and police department enforcement prongs to bring about meaningful change and deterrence to continued speeding concerns. You may have seen temporary speed signs in your neighborhood or other neighborhoods in the City. Though driver behavior is hard to change, it is hopeful that when seeing these signs we will be reminded to pay closer attention to the speed limit and to the way that we drive.
