  • The City of Wadsworth is launching a planning and design process for the Downtown Wadsworth Infrastructure and Streetscape project. This much-needed effort will replace century-old sewer and water lines and other downtown utilities. While the utilities are being upgraded, we have the opportunity to explore traffic, parking and pedestrian improvements, adding things like expanded sidewalks, updated amenities, wayfinding signage and inviting gathering spaces.

  • The underground utilities in Downtown Wadsworth are overdue for replacement, and this construction gives us the opportunity to improve not just what’s below ground, but everything above it too. We’re planning ahead to ensure downtown remains vibrant, accessible and welcoming for years to come.

  • While the utilities are being upgraded, we have the opportunity to reimagine our streets with potential upgrades including: 

    • Improved traffic management, parking accessibility and safer pedestrian walkability 
    • Expanded sidewalks, improved lighting, and street landscaping 
    • Updated amenities, wayfinding signage, and inviting gathering spaces 
    • Features that enhance downtown’s charm, welcoming atmosphere, and economic vitality

  • The City is working to combine project funding from city local utility funds, state and federal grants, the city’s general fund, and other sources. We’re also actively pursuing additional outside funding to help reduce local fiscal impacts.

  • Planning and design are underway in 2025, with construction not expected to begin until designs are finalized and funding is secured. We’ll keep the community informed with updates and anticipated timelines as we move forward.
