Susana B Lewis

Municipal Court
Title: Municipal Judge

I am a graduate of Kean University of New Jersey with a Bachelor’s of Science in Political Science, and earned my Juris Doctor degree from The University of Akron School of Law. Prior to my election as judge, I served as Chief Magistrate of the Medina County Probate & Juvenile Court, from 2005 -2023. I also served as an Assistant Summit County Prosecuting Attorney from 1994 to 2005 and prior to that, as Staff Counsel for the Stark County Department of Human Services. I am active in the community serving on various organizations dedicated to serving the needs of families including, Medina County Share Coalition, focusing on teen drug and alcohol prevention, The Medina County Coalition for Suicide Prevention, Leadership Medina and Junior Leadership Medina Government Day. I have been a High School Mock Trial Competition judge for over 20 years. I previously served as a board member of the Medina County Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health (ADAMH) Board. I teach Continuing Legal Education courses for the Supreme Court’s Judicial College, Medina Bar Association, and Ohio Prosecutor’s Association, and has provided training and instruction to courts and attorney in various areas of law including felony prosecution of child support cases, Juvenile crime and procedure, Traffic and Guardian ad litem laws. My husband and I moved our young family to Wadsworth many years ago in pursuit of a caring and friendly community to raise our children. We have two grown children who proudly attended Wadsworth City Schools and graduated from the University of Akron just like us. I grew up in Manhattan and Central New Jersey, and was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. English is my second language and I am fluent in Spanish thanks to my parents! I cannot put into words how happy and proud I am to work in my hometown and serve our community as judge. I am impressed by the Wadsworth Municipal Court team of professionals and the passion they have for their work. It speaks volumes about each of them and our city. My vision for the court is simple - to work hard for our community, and apply the law fairly and impartially, to care deeply, and do what’s right. I hope to address common issues that bring people back to court repeatedly. I have had the privilege of working with at-risk youth for many years, and now have been given the honor of serving as your judge. I am deeply grateful and fully committed to the work of the court and people that we serve. I look forward to getting to know everyone better.
