State of Emergency Declaration
To the Residents of Wadsworth:
We certainly have been experiencing a difficult time in our world. The measures that are being taken to help flatten the curve and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus have been dramatic, but should hopefully help our community, state, and country endure this pandemic better.
We have taken this situation seriously at the City. Our primary objectives are to do our best to keep our residents and employees safe and to continue to provide essential services to the community. Yesterday, I went one step further by declaring that the City of Wadsworth operate under a state of emergency to proactively provide the city with the powers to dynamically address the potential changing needs of the community to ensure the protection of health, safety, and welfare of our citizens, businesses, and employees during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The City is closely following the statutory code and federal requirements during this time and I have notified the City Council. This declaration gives us the ability to apply for state and federal reimbursement for certain expenditures related to this disaster if funds become available in the future and put temporary policies in place as needed. A specific time-sensitive need is the ability to move to essential-only staff including alternate work schedules in order to maintain essential municipal services.
We have made changes over the past two weeks for the primary goals of ensuring the health and well-being of our residents and employees as well as continue the operations and services of the City. City Hall and public buildings were closed or partially closed to the public to help promote this goal. We ask that if you have a need to visit one of our facilities, call ahead and you will be able to schedule an appointment if it is necessary.
