Free Income Tax Assistance

Taxpayers can drop off income tax documents in a sealed envelope with their name, phone number and email address on the front of the envelope. Be sure to include W-2 Forms from all employers, and W-2G and 1099-MISC Forms, page one and Schedule 1 of your Federal Form 1040, and schedules C, E, F, K-1 and Sch A & 2106 (if applicable.) If you moved during 2019, provide all addresses where you lived.
If your 2019 tax liability is $200 or more, we will contact you regarding estimated tax payments for 2020. You will be contacted to pick up your paperwork once the return is filed. All documents provided will be returned to you, along with payment instructions if there is a balance due. Envelopes are available in City Hall, and can be placed in the utility payment drop slot inside City Hall.
PLEASE NOTE: As of June 1, 2020 we are no longer accepting completed tax forms or estimated tax payments in the Tax Office. All documents must be mailed to RITA. The postmark is considered the filing date.

ON MARCH 27, 2020, THE STATE OF OHIO EXTENDED THE STATE TAX RETURN FILING DEADLINE TO JULY 15, 2020. MUNICIPAL FILING DEADLINES FOLLOW THE STATE. THEREFORE, YOUR ANNUAL CITY RETURN IS NOW DUE JULY 15, 2020. THE DEADLINE TO MAKE YOUR FIRST AND SECOND QUARTER ESTIMATED TAX PAYMENTS HAS ALSO BEEN EXTENDED TO JULY 15, 2020.
- Individual taxpayers have until 7/15/20 to file and pay their 2019 municipal income tax return
- Net profit taxpayers (calendar year) who have opted to file with the State Tax Commissioner have until 7/15/20 to file and pay their 2019 municipal income tax return with the State
- Net profit taxpayers (calendar year) who file directly with the tax administrator of the municipal corporation have until 7/15/20 to file and pay their 2019 municipal income tax return
- First and second quarter estimated tax payments (individuals and calendar year net profit tax filers) will both be due by 7/15/20.

The deadline to file your Wadsworth City tax return is April 15, 2020.
Free help is available with personal income tax returns (excluding net profit returns) and other issues which may arise with regard to City income tax. The City Income Tax Office is located on the first floor in City Hall, and is open weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We do not take appointments. Persons stopping in are assisted on a first-come, first-served basis, and wait times may vary, please plan for such a possibility.
There is no after-hours assistance provided in Wadsworth. The closest location where RITA agents will provide assistance is in Medina at the Medina Community Recreation Center, 855 Weymouth Rd, Medina, OH 44256.
