Spring Clean-Up Week 2014

All leaves and grass must be placed in bags or containers with a maxium capacity of 30 gallons; and, each container must have a yard waste sticker in order to be picked up.

 

During Spring Clean-Up Week, residents have the opportunity to put additional trash out for pick-up.  All items must be at the street the evening before the normal pick up day, and a number of items are EXCLUDED: 

tires

appliances

motor oil

paints

any liquid wastes

furniture

computer equipment

mattresses/box springs

televisions

construction and demolition materials (including carpet and flooring)

any item weighing over 50 pounds or too bulky for one person to handle

 

Large items, such as furniture, carpeting and padding, or mattresses and box springs can be disposed of at the Transfer Station for a fee.. 

Loose brush will be picked up during Spring Cleanup week, there is a maximum of one truckload per residence. Property owners having more truckload may take the brush to the Medina County Compost Facility on Lake Road in WestfieldTownship.  Any leaves and grass must be placed in bags or containers with a maximum capacity of 30 gallons; and each container must have a yard waste sticker in order to be picked up. Stickers are available year round for $1.00 each at the Utility Office in City Hall or at the Transfer Station (165 Auble Street). Giant Eagle, Buehler's and Hometown Market.  Any container having mixed yard waste and trash will not be picked up.

Residents with Wadsworth trash service may dispose of large items, such as furniture, carpeting and padding, or mattresses and box springs, by taking them to the Transfer Station where they will be charged fees based on total cubic yards.  There is a $2.00 charge at the Transfer Station for computer monitors, hard drives, printers, scanners, etc., to cover charges to the City by the Central Processing Facility.  Most computer parts may be dropped off at the Central Processing Facility in Medina for free, with the exception of CRT monitors which are $5.  The Medina County Commissioners have arranged with the RET3 Job Corporation to recycle the reusable parts of the televisions; so, both the Transfer Station and the Central Processing Facility will accept TVs 19” or smaller for $5.00 each or anything larger for $10.00.  

Residents are reminded that – following Spring Clean-up Week -  yard waste will continue to be picked up on the same day as their trash and stickers are required.  From April through October, any yard waste should be placed at the curb by 12:00 a.m. on the day of pick-up in order to be collected.
