The Wadsworth Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service provides fire and emergency medical care for the City of Wadsworth and Wadsworth Township. The department serves a 25 square mile area from two locations, 153 North Lyman and 338 Weatherstone Drive.
The fire department, which was organized in 1896, is made up of 60 members of that fifteen personnel are fulltime. These consist of a fire chief, asst. chief, six fire inspectors / firefighter medic, four fire/medics, one paramedic, emergency vehicle maintenance person, one part time maintenance person, and department administrative assistant. The remainder of the force is paid on call. The fire department answered 249 fire calls in 2012.
The equipment available in Wadsworth for firefighting include: Three modern pumping engines, a 100 foot aerial platform truck, a 3000 gallon tanker, a 1999 combination heavy rescue truck / hazardous materials containment truck, and a AMC General Hummer quick attack unit. A 1975 pumper engine was replaced with a 2005 pumper in Feb. 2006. The E.M.S. maintains four modern ambulances equipped with twelve lead external defibrillators and other state of the art life support equipment.
Station 2 is staffed with firefighters/medics 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The average response time for Fire in 2012 was 5.78 minutes and for E.M.S. was 3.38 minutes.

Lyman Street and can be reached at (330) 335-2849. All Fire and Emergency Medical calls are handled through the Wadsworth Police Department dispatcher.
