Wadsworth Peak Rewards

Save Money. Save Energy. Go Greener.

Peak rewards is a new voluntary program for City of Wadsworth electric customers that helps to reduce high-energy demand when it counts most --- during the hottest summer days when thousands of central air conditioners are running at the same time. When you enroll, you'll earn $25 right away, and then $40 every summer that you participate in the Peak Rewards program.

Wadsworth Electric Department

The City of Wadsworth has owned and operated its own electric distribution system since 1916. Electricity is purchased from a group of municipally owned and operated electric system throughout Ohio, and serves over 12,500 customers. Local ownership insures a greater commitment to service for residential, commercial, and industrial users. The municipal system also provides free street lighting, free electricity for city operations, and rates for customers which are on the average 40% lower than those available through privately-owned utilities. In addition, the system is highly reliable due to a well-designed loop system that prevents brownouts and minimizes outages. The City presently has seven substations.

The City of Wadsworth is connected to transmission grid at it's Durling Drive Delivery 138,000 kV Point Substation.

Established in 1916, the City of Wadsworth Municipal Electric system is a premier power provider to all community residents. Wadsworth electric provides the best possible service at the most reasonable cost. In association with American Public Power Association and AMP, the City of Wadsworth stays abreast of legislative, regulatory and safety issues.

Located at 365 Broad Street makes customer convenience easy and accessible. This division installs and maintains electric lines, meters, street lights, ballfield lights, and traffic control lighting. Substations are located in strategic locations in Wadsworth and Sharon Center to serve customer load reliably and efficiently.
