MEDIA RELEASE

The Wadsworth Police Department recently received complaints from numerous individuals who alleged they were the victims of unauthorized and fraudulent charges on their credit/debit accounts.  These fraudulent transactions occurred after individuals made merchandise or computer services purchases at Fortress Computers located at 192 College Street, Wadsworth, Ohio.  Many of the reported fraudulent transactions involved purchases from an internet website known as Quibids.com.  Customers of Fortress Computers are encouraged to review their credit/debit account statements for transactions involving this website and any other unknown and unauthorized internet vendor transactions.

The possibility exists that there are additional victims that the police department is unaware of to date. Some victims may not be aware of the unauthorized and fraudulent use of their accounts after patronizing Fortress Computers. Other victims may have realized their accounts were fraudulently used but chose not to contact the police after their banking institutions credited the charges back to their accounts. Despite this banking action, the police department seeks information on these matters.  If you believe you are a victim, or learn in the near future that you are a victim of unauthorized and fraudulent credit/debit charges under circumstances described herein, please make copies of all account documents evidencing the unauthorized and fraudulent activity and contact Detective Sipos of the Wadsworth Police Department at 330-336-2405.

Your timely cooperation with this request is important and greatly appreciated.
