SIGN REGULATIONS - NEW REGULATIONS ADOPTED

 

City Council adopted a new sign ordinance on July17, 2007, which becomes effective on August 16, 2007.  A copy of this ordiance can be viewed/printed from this link:  New Sign Regulations - 2007.

 

Provisions for highway signs were subsequently adopted in 2008 and can be accessed at: Highway Sign Regulations.

 

 

DESIGN REVIEW REQUIRED 

As noted in Section 154.482, permanent signs signs for commercial, industrial, institutional and multifamily residential projects require design review and approval by the Architectural Design Committee (ADC) before a zoning certificate will be issued and the sign can be installed. The following sections summarized the submission requirements for ADC review. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR SIGNAGE 

Applicants shall submit one Application for PC-ADC Review and four (4) copies of the following items: 

1) Scaled site-plan showing: 

    a) Location and setbacks of all existing and proposed buildings, accessory structures and existing signs        (building-mounted and free-standing)

    b) Location and setback of all proposed signs (building-mounted & free-standing) 

    c) Existing and proposed easements for public and private utilities

    d) Landscaping associated with proposed free-standing signs

 2) Scaled drawings of each sign showing: 

    a) Sign dimensions, display area & overall height

    b) Supporting structure and/or sign base (including dimensions & height)

    c) Proposed graphics & lettering (fonts, letter height, etc.)

    d) Materials and colors of all sign faces, support structure and/or base, graphics & letteringe) Proposed sign   illumination  

 

SUBMISSION DEADLINE


The ADC meets on the second & fourth Monday's of each month at 4:30PM in City Council Chambers, 120 Maple Street. The submission dealine is at 4:30PM, 17 days prior to the meeting. See

Permit Requirements

 

Prior to installing signs approved by the ADC, applicants must obtain a zoning certficate from the city. Building and electrical permits, if required, must be obtained from the Medina County Building Department.
