The Wadsworth Police Department Detective Bureau is responsible for handling cases that involve extensive or specialized investigative procedures such as complex crime scenes, in-depth interviews, and certain serious criminal offenses. 

Detectives have advanced training in various areas such as handling crimes against children, forensic interviewing of children, sexual offenses, death investigation, surveillance, and financial crimes. 

Two of the WPD detectives have been certified as Master Criminal Investigators by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy and one is a certified Evidence Technician skilled in the latest forensic and evidence collection techniques.

The Wadsworth Police Department works closely with the Medway Drug Task Force in pursuing and prosecuting drug offenders.
