City of Wadsworth

COMMITTEES, COMMISSIONS & BOARDS

 

AIRPORT COMMISSION:  Consists of five members appointed by the Mayor to  two-year terms and includes a City Council representative to the commission.  Established by Ordinance No. 50-86.  Meets as needed.

 

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN COMMITTEE: Consists of three members appointed by the City's Planning Commission to a two-year term.  One of those members must be an architect.  Established under Wadsworth City Code 154.071.  Meets twice monthly.  -more-

 

BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS:  Consists of seven members appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council to three-year terms.  An alternate member may also be appointed to serve in place of any member temporarily unable to perform his/her duties.  Members of the Board shall be residents of the City.  No member may also be a member of the Planning Commission.  Meets twice monthly.  -more-

 

C.A.T.V. [Cable Commission] :  Consists of seven members appointed by the Mayor to two-year terms and includes a City Council representative to the commission (one-year term).  Established by Wadsworth Ordinance No. 4-82.   Meets every other month.

 

CEMETERY BOARD:  Consists of three members appointed during a meeting of the Wadsworth City Council and Wadsworth Township Trustees to three-year terms, one of which must be a member of the board of township trustees and one a City Council member.  Meets monthly.

 

CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION:  Consists of three members appointed by the Mayor to six-year terms.  Only two may be of the same political party.  Established by the Ohio Revised Code 124.40.  Meets as needed.

 

 

ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY ADVISORY COMMISSION:  Consists of five members appointed by the Mayor to serve a five-year term.  Meets quarterly or as needed.  Established by Wadsworth Ordinance No. 06-101 (Code Section 52.05).

 

INCOME TAX BOARD OF REVIEW:  Consists of three members appointed by the Mayor to serve a two-year term.  It is recommended, but not required, that one be an accountant and one be an attorney.  Established by Wadsworth Ordinance No. 7-88.  Meets as needed.  -more-

 

 

MEDINA COUNTY ADVISORY COUNCIL ON AGING:  Consists of two members and two alternates appointed to three-year terms. 

 

MEDINA COUNTY DRUG ABUSE COMMISSION:  Consists of one member and one alternate appointed by the Mayor to three-year terms.

 

MEDINA COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH:  Includes one Wadsworth member appointed by the Mayor, and requiring City Council approval, to a six-year term,.  The board was established in 1960 to unite the city health districts of Medina, Wadsworth and Brunswick for a combined board, with one member from each of the cities and three representatives from the townships and villages.  A seventh member was added in 2004, with the seat given to a Licensing Council Member. 

 

MEDINA COUNTY HOUSING NETWORK:  Includes a Wadsworth member appointed by the Mayor.  Created by County Commissioners' Resolution No. 03-1049.

 

MEDINA COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION:  Includes one Wadsworth member and an alternate appointed by the Mayor to three-year terms.

 

 

PLANNING COMMISSION:  Consists of five members, including the Mayor, the Director of Public Service, and three citizens of the City appointed to six-year terms.  Established by the Ohio Revised Code 713.01 and Wadsworth City Code 151.01.  Meets twice monthly.  -more-

 

PROPERTY MAINTENANCE APPEALS BOARD:  Consists of five members appointed by the Mayor to a three-year term.  Members of the board shall be residents of the City and shall constitute a representative group of citizens with appropriate expertise in health, finance, construction, homemaking, and other appropriate skills.  In the event of the absence from the city or incapacity of a member, the Mayor may appoint a substitute, who may serve as a member of the board with the same power and authority as a regular member, until such member has returned or is able to resume his/her duties.  Meets as needed.  -more-

 

RECORDS COMMISSION:  Consists of the Mayor or his appointed representative (serving as chairperson); the Auditor; the Director of Law; and, one citizen appointed by the Mayor to a four-year term.  The commission shall appoint a secretary, who may or may not be a member of the commission and who may or may not be a member of the commission and who shall serve at the pleasure of the commission.  The commission may employ an archivist to serve under its direction.  The commission shall meet at least once every six months and upon call of the chairperson.  Revised under City Ordinance No. 70-74.  -more-

 

REVOLVING LOAN FUND COMMITTEE:  Consists of five members appointed by City Council.  Meets as needed.  

 

SENIOR CITIZENS COMMISSION:  Sometimes referred to as the 'Center for Older Adults Commission'; Consists of seven members appointed by the Mayor to five-year terms.  Established by Wadsworth Ordinance No. 31-96 and amended under Ordinance No. 06-052 (Code Section 33.50).  Meets monthly.  -more-

 

SHADE TREE COMMISSION:  Consists of eight members who are resident electors of the City and appointed by the Mayor to three-year terms, the Director of Public Service, and a member of City Council appointed by the President of Council.  Established by Wadsworth City Code 33.60.  Meets monthly.   -more-

 

STORMWATER MANAGEMENT COMMISSION:  Consists of five members appointed by the Mayor to three-year terms, plus a student member, as consistent with the bylaws established by the commission.  Meets monthly.

 

TAX INCENTIVE REVIEW COUNCIL:  Consists of three representatives appointed by the Board of County Commissioners; two representatives of the City, appointed by the Mayor, with Council approval; the county auditor or designee; and, a representative of each affected board of education.  At least two members must be residents of the City of Wadsworth.  Established by Ohio Revised Code 5709.85 and Wadsworth Ordinance No. 52-96.  Medina County Commissioners' Resolution No. 99-185 indicates that the City makes recommendation for appointments that are then approved by the commissioners, with no term limits.  -more-
