Please know that the dollars the City uses to operate belong to the citizens of Wadsworth and should always be handled appropriately. As Auditor for the City, I have developed rules and procedures to ensure that the City handles its resources appropriately. However, I cannot spend enough money to ensure that fraud is never committed. Therefore, I am always mindful of the possibility and watch for any signs. According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners 2008 Report to the Nation on Occupational Fraud & Abuse, 46% of fraud is discovered by tips from employees, customers, vendors and other anonymous sources.

If you feel that I have done something inappropriate or if you choose to go over my head, then you can contact the Auditor of State's Special Investigations Unit at 1.866.FRAUD OH. Established in 2003, this program is an effort "to restore and promote public confidence in those entrusted with public funds by proactively improving the accountability of government through the investigation of fraud and illegal acts." Through the toll-free hotline, public employees and citizens have a direct and effective way to report public fraud, waste and abuse at all levels of government. Since its inception in 2003, the hotline has received thousands of calls. More than 800 complaints have been filed with the State, and many callers are referred to other state and local agencies as appropriate.
If you prefer to give a tip to City Council, call their 24-hour line at 330.335.2716 and leave a message on the voice mail. If you choose to leave identification, they will follow up with you.
Thank you for caring about Wadsworth.
