The City of Wadsworth has several laws pertaining to keeping dogs and other animals in the City and regarding restrictions in their behavior. Below is a partial list. Residents and visitors should refer to the City's Code of Ordinances for a complete listing.
DEFECATION AS A NUISANCE
No person shall permit AN animal to defecate upon any public or private land or any private land other than the land that person lives on. If the animal DOES defecates on any such prohibited land, the owner or handler shall clean it up and deposit it in an appropriate receptacle.

ANIMALS ALLOWED IN THE CITY
The following animals/creatures are not allowed in the City of Wadsworth:
Any poisonous animal, fish or reptile; Apes: chimpanzees, gibbons, gorillas, orangutans and siamangs; Baboons; Bears; Bison; Cheetahs; Crocodilians; Constrictor snakes; Deer; Elephants; Game cocks and other fighting birds; Hippopotami; Hyenas; Jaguars; Leopards; Lions; Lynxes; Ostriches; Piranha fish; Pumas, also known as cougars, mountain lions and panthers; Rhinoceroses; Sharks; Snow leopards; Tigers; or any that are considered to be potentially dangerous due to its temperament or size unless it is maintained in such a way as to minimize danger to the general public. Animals considered to be potentially dangerous shall include, but not be limited to, wolves, coyotes, or cross-breeds of these and dogs, foxes and bobcats.
The following are also not allowed in the City:
any cattle, chickens, donkeys, ducks, goats, horses, mules, pigeons, ponies, sheep, swine or turkeys (unless the owner has five or more contiguous acres of land, where the animals are kept)
The following are NOT prohibited:
donkeys, horses, mules or ponies in the city for participation in a parade.

RUNNING AT LARGE
No animals are permitted to run at large in the City, as outlined in the City Code.

BARKING DOGS
Frequent or habitual howling, yelping, barking, or making of other noises by a dog is prohibited, as outlined in the City Code.

LEASH LAW FOR PARKS
No person shall have a dog in a city park unless the dog is Restrained by a leash that is not more than eight feet in length and held by the person having the dog in the park.
