It’s time again for the
City’s annual spring clean-up.During
the week of April 25th – 29th,
residents may set out extra items at the curb on the evening before their
normal trash pick-up day.The Sanitation
Department has developed the following guidelines.Loose brush will be picked up, with a limit
of one truckload per residence. Residents
with more than the maximum may haul it directly to the Medina County Compost
Facility located on Lake Road in Westfield Township.Leaves and grass must be bagged or in cans
and must have green stickers attached (available at the Utility Department at
City Hall, the Transfer Station on Auble Street, Giant Eagle, Buehler’s and
Hometown Market).Any container having mixed yard waste and trash will not be
picked up.
Residents are reminded that, following Spring
Clean-up Week, yard waste (with green stickers attached) will continue to
be picked up on your regular trash day and should be placed at the curb by 2:00
a.m. on the day of pick-up in order to be collected.
Items that may not be set out during clean-up week
include tires, motor oil, paints, liquid wastes, furniture, mattresses, box
springs, appliances, construction & demolition materials (including carpet
and flooring) or any items over 50 pounds or too bulky for one person to
handle.Large items, such as furniture,
carpeting and padding, or mattress and box springs can be disposed of at the
Transfer Station for fees based on total cubic yards.There is a $2.00 charge for computer
monitors, hard drives, printers, scanners etc. that are dropped off at the
Transfer Station.However, individuals
may take them to the Central Processing Facility in Medina for free.The Central
Processing Facility will accept TV’s 19 inches or smaller at a cost of $5.00
each, and anything larger than 19 inches will be $10.00 each.
Hydrant Flushing Schedule
The
Wadsworth Water Department will be conducting its annual fire hydrant flushing
program during the weeks of April 25th and May 2nd.The flushing of each hydrant on a regular
schedule insures that hydrants are in good working order and also aids in
maintaining water quality.
The
streets included in the flushing this year are: College Street and all streets
south of College Street; streets south of Broad Street and west of First
Street; streets west of High Street and south of Prospect to Leatherman Road;
all streets west of Leatherman Road.
Your
water may become discolored during the flushing program.While it is safe to drink, it is not
recommended that you wash clothes in it.The water should be cleared up by the following day.
Prescription Medicine Drive-Through Collection
The Wadsworth Police
Department has coordinated with federal drug enforcement agencies to collect
unused or expired prescription medicines at the Wadsworth Police Department on
Saturday, April 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.Please drive to the back side of City Hall,
near the Police Department’s public lobby, and a police officer will be
standing by to collect the medicine from you as you drive through.This program is completely confidential and
no personal information will be collected.Please remove all prescription labels before arriving. For more
