Howell Rescue School
May, 2005
The Howell Rescue School is held every year in May to allow fire and rescue personnel the opportunity to advance knowledge and skills in actual simulated incidents. In 2005 three members attended this advance training, Lt. E. Bowling, Lt. D. Cleckner and FF L. Skruck. The vehicles used actually have a rescue mannequin inside that the students must remove using different hands on techniques. Below are some pictures of the situations encountered during this training session. Photos courtesy of Lt. E. Bowling.

This drill is designed to help firefighters to become more confident in their abilities to function inside of a structure involved in fire while wearing an S.C.B.A. If a firefighter should become entrapped and need to exit the hazardous area this will give them some basic understanding of what they may be faced with. This drill test the firefighters ability to maneuver through tight areas and to free themselves should they become entangled in debris.
