August -2005 Hudson Public Power Sends Crews to Greenwood Mississippi
Amp-Ohio member community Hudson Public Power sent 8 linemen, 2 bucket trucks, 1 digger derrick truck and Superintendent Don Stalla to Greenwood Mississippi for restoration of electric service in the aftermath of Katrina. We thank Hudson Public Power for the response for mutual aid to our neighbors in Mississippi.
Hudson Public Power Crews have returned home after assisting in cleanup. Here is a list of some of the places and what they had to say about the experience.
Spent two days in Greenwood Mississippi.
Spent two days in Yazoo Mississippi.
Worked with crews from Bowling Green , Kentucky and Clarksdale, Mississippi.
Cell communications very difficult if at all
Commuted from Greenwood Mississippi to Yazoo (1.5 hours) so they would not lose their hotel rooms, rooms are very difficult to obtain, fortunately Greenwood reserved rooms for them in advance.
Fuel is being limited and hour long lines are common
They dealt mostly with wind and tree damage and set allot of poles.
