Matthew "Matt" Hiscock was appointed as the Director of Public Safety, by Mayor Robin Laubaugh. The Police Department and the Fire & EMS Departments are included as subdepartments under his control.
The Wadsworth Police Department consists of 26 full time sworn officers, 8 civilian employees and 5 auxiliary officers. Randall Reinke was promoted to the Chief of Police in 2010.
The Wadsworth Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service is headed by Fire Chief Ralph Copley and provides fire and emergency medical care for the City of Wadsworth and Wadsworth Township. The department serves a 25 square mile area from two locations, 153 North Lyman and 338 Weatherstone Drive. It is made up of 58 members of which fifteen personnel are fulltime.
