Ralph J. Copley, Chief

Started as a volunteer in 1982, became Fire Marshal and hired fulltime in June 1989 and was promoted to Administrative Assistant Chief in 1992. With the retirement of former Chief Hontert was appointed to Interim Fire Chief in October 2002 and was appointed to the position of Fire Chief on February 15, 2003. Ralph is married and has one son who is also a member of the fire department. 

Ron Likley, Training Officer/Assistant Chief

Ron started with the department in August of 1982 when E.M.S. was first formed. Then in September 1985 he joined the Fire Department and in June 1998 was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. In June 2001 he became the Training Officer, a fulltime position, for both Fire and E.M.S. at the rank of Captain. Then in June 2003 he was promoted to Assistant Chief. Ron is married and has four adult children.

Carl Rommel, Captain

Fulltime Firefighter /Medic

Carl has been in the fire service since the fall of 1990, serving on a fire department in Illinois prior to moving to Wadsworth and joining the department here as a paid on-call member in the fall of 1994. Carl became one of the first full-time members in March of 1998 as a Firefighter/Paramedic and is still currently working in that capacity. He has also moved up the ranks, becoming a Lieutenant in August of 2001 and then becoming Captain in July of 2003. Carl has two children.

Tim Flath, Lieutenant

Member since 1982

Tim joined the department in 1982 as one of the original members of E.M.S. His father, Tom Flath, had the vision for E.M.S. and served as the Director. Tim was promoted to Lieutenant in August 2003. He serves on E.M.S. as a E.M.T. Intermediate. Tim is married to Leanne who was also on E.M.S. for seven years. Tim has four children.    

Eric Bowling, Lieutenant

Fulltime Fire Inspector/Medic/Firefighter

Eric was born and raised in Wadsworth. He joined the Fire Department in October 1994, and became a paramedic in 1999.  Eric was promoted in August 2003 to the position of Lieutenant and completed the Firefighter Level II certification in 2004. Eric has 2 children. He is currently a fulltime Fire Inspector/Paramedic/ Firefighter.
