Appointment & Service
Hired by Wadsworth City Council in 2004, Clerk Tammy Guenther has been appointed to seven consecutive terms. She helps to manage day-to-day operations of the Council office. She advertises and attends meetings, produces agendas and prepares and preserves public records. She assists citizens and interfaces with City Administration on behalf of Council. As described in the Ohio Revised Code, she fulfills a number of statutory duties for Wadsworth, such as the recording of annexations.
Ms. Guenther has worked for 30 years in the non-profit sector, including city government, college admissions, and as director for two community-based non-profits. She earned her Master of Science degree from Springfield College (Massachusetts) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Akron.
She received her Municipal Clerk Certification (2006) from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks in cooperation with Kent State University. Ms. Guenther is also certified to teach yoga (2013) and completed a four year, “Education for Ministry” course (2011) through the University of the South (Tennessee) and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Akron.
Ms. Guenther currently serves as a member of the Wadsworth Shade Tree Commission.
Born in Akron, Ms. Guenther lived for many years in Vermont, and has been a resident of Wadsworth for the last 14 years. She’s raised two sons, one recently graduated from the Ohio State University, now married and living in Kansas, and the other currently a student at Kenyon College.
